Após mal sobreviver à febre aftosa, munido apenas do seu instinto de sobrevivência e numa tentativa de evadir o destino, um porco procura tornar-se completamente humano. Ao mesmo tempo, o atormentado Choi Jeong-Seok deserta do serviço militar após assassinar o seu superior. Na ânsia de abandonar a sua angústia, refugia-se na natureza, onde será capaz de se reconciliar com o seu lado animal. É aí que conhece Yoo Ji-Eun, uma estudante que elegeu as suas montanhas como local para o suicídio. O sul-coreano Hur Bum-wook escreve e realiza esta destemida parábola, plena de desígnio e, por vezes, evocativa do clássico de animação “Watership Down”, que investiga as sinistras fragilidades de um modo de vida que há muito se tornou insustentável. O eco-terror está vivo e de boa saúde, tanto na terra como no cinema.
After barely surviving foot-and-mouth disease, armed only with its survival instinct and in an attempt to escape its fate, a pig seeks to become completely human. At the same time, the tormented Choi Jeong-Seok deserts the military after murdering his superior. Eager to escape his anguish, he takes refuge in nature, where he is able to reconcile with his animal side. There he meets Yoo Ji-Eun, a student who has chosen the mountains as the place to commit suicide. South Korean Hur Bum-wook writes and directs this fearless parable, full of purpose and at times reminiscent of the animated classic “Watership Down”, which investigates the sinister fragilities of a way of life that has long since become unsustainable. Eco-terror is alive and well, both on earth and on the big screen.
